Testing new features of the NEW THL website :-)

Hi Loungers,  I'm just testing the ability to load pictures from an IPad (or any iOS device).  What many of us having been asking for has finally arrived!

I am actually at my auto service center waiting for the car to be serviced.  So I brought some toys with me to spend the time...(how sad is it that I start bringing watches with me to keep me amused?)

My ref 7297 was just serviced and I put a new strap on it.  VC refinished the dial (as a required service), this was the most time consuming aspect of the watch's service...but they did an AMAZING job with it.  Eagle-eyed Loungers will notice the accent above the second E in "GENEVE" is now missing, as consistent with the new fonts and practice that started last year (but the "&" is still there!)

I am fine with the size of this watch, though I will probably give it to the wife at some point in time (with a few colorful quick-change straps...to match her purses, etc. so it can be her "fashion" watch).  The good thing about the quick change straps is I can change it back to my strap very easily when I want to use the watch.  I expect to keep the vintage buckle for myself :-0

I'm also always playing with straps for the T-Bird and have a real thing for sharksin with this particular watch.

We will be taking a cruise staring on Saturday and will be taking these watches with us.  The T-bird likes the Bahamas. :-)

Great pictures and great watches. Best test I've had all week!

Enjoy the cruise as well.  Thanks for posting these.  I really like that ref 7297.  The restored dial is beautiful.

Thanks! (nt)

Pictures uploaded from iOS devices have a 1024x768 pixel and a 64MB size limit.  They are automatically downsized, I don't think there is anything that users can do about it.

I hope this size limitation doesn't also affect computer based (laptop and desktop) uploads.

Alex, any guidance?

BR, Dan

Love that Tbird, great combo !

Thank you Cisco

The T-Bird is quite unique among VCs, much more sporty/casual in design.

That is vintage heaven!

Both watches look great on their new straps, Dan.  You have a flair for choosing great straps.

The 7297 really loks fantastic.  I am surprised that during the dial restoration, the accent went but the "&" remained.  When VC does a restoration like this, is the entire dial replaced or is the original dial refurbished?  Also, you noted that the dial restoration was "required." Does that mean that VC would not perform the watch service without doing the dial?

The last photo really got my heart racing!  To see those two pieces together, side by side, is really enjoyable.  The contrasting colors of the metals, the straps you chose, the round v. square case shapes, and the entirely different designs.  They just make for a perfect V&C pairing.  Well done!

Best regards,

PS - Enjoy the cruise!

Thanks Robert

The 7297's original dial was refurbished by Stern Creations (the dial maker).  VC determined that the dial work was required, so they included it as part of the required services.  They told me there was some water damage to the watch, so I think they made this decision to prevent things from getting worse over time if nothing was done to care for the dial.

I appreciate the thoughts about my strap decisions.  VC goes through so much to get all the details of a watch correct, I like to do what I can to complement it with my strap choices.

you actually take your watches to keep you company whan you have

Good to see you here as well Sir!

I am still learning about the new system, getting myself familiar with all the details.

Brilliant restoration on the dial

I'd love to link to your earlier images of the unrestored dial, but can't figure out how to do that...the previous layout allowed linking to an image URL but this only seems to allow uploading.  Is there a way?

Nice to see the T-Bird out for some air too yes.

Let me upload that picture of the unfinished watch here

Here is a before and after.  You will notice the new hands as well.

Before Restoration  Let me upload that picture of the unfinished watch here

The T-Bird does like to get out and fly, who am I to keep it grounded?  wink

I like the bright red you showed me before :)

Where do you shop for your straps?  They are great

have a great trip

Thanks Joe, to be honest...

I like the bright red too, but the strap was of low quality...just one summer of wearing it (not even on a daily basis), the threading and adhesive along one of the edges started to fail and seperate.

I found another source of Sharskin straps that can be customized (length, width, padding, etc.)  but there are only a few color options.  And bright red isn't one of them sad,  therefore I went with the burgundy.
