thank you

Hi fellow Loungers,

as a new member I have been exposed to many facets of the benefits of citizenship in this forum. The main quality is the leadership of Alex to guide this ship through some potentially turbulent waters. His personal "concierge" service has been noted by many but I really wanted to thank him. I was going to send him an Email but after reading it I wanted to be more public with my comments.

In the spirit of the holiday season of an extremely difficult year I wish Alex and all my friends here a happy holiday season and look forward to a wonderful New Year.

All the best, Michael Segal

Hi Alex,

Thanks you so much for your time and effort regarding my watch.
I would like you to know that it really is your enthusiasm for Vacheron that inspired me to purchase my current 4178.
I am sure you know I have long been a Patek guy but I am now finding a new joy. I am now looking at Vacheron as a source to provide me with watches to quench my thirst in the future (not just vintage).

I hope Vacheron knows what a resource and an asset you are to their organization. You run the website not as a proponent of Vacheron but as a proponent of all things horological. You never attack someone who wishes to show a non-Vacheron product and you never EVER insult a forum member, kudos to you my friend. Under your Stewardship VC appears as elegant and top notch an organization as you are a person.  Based on the quality of Vacherons products since you came onboard, I wonder how much of your input is requested.

It also speaks volumes to look at the people who frequent your site. They are eloquent, civil, classy men and women (a rare feat indeed) who greatly support one another. Never does someone criticize someone else (or else you are VERY quick with the delete button ;)). It is quite apparent to me that like attracts like in the Hour Lounge.

Please let me wish you great success to success (an old Jewish saying, "chazakah li chazakah"). I am proud to be a citizen of your forum and look forward to many more years of learning about Vacheron.
Have a peaceful and joyous holiday season.

My very best regards,

Michael Segal

Very nice of you to dedicate him in this way, which I also found as a sign of true Hour Lounge mentality It's a pleasure having you onboard! Cheers Doc
Michael, You have put into words exactly how we all feel

About Alex and the Lounge....well said and glad you made it public. Also happy to see your enjoying your foray outside the patek world. It's not that Patek is not appreciated (at least not by me) but there are so many great watches being introduced by so many talented watch makers, its a sin not discover them. John
+1000 Michael!!! Very Well Said, Well Written! (nt)

for reflection on the year past and anticipation of the year ahead.  Micahel, your words are warm and sincere, and shared by all!  Thank-you for expressing those emotions for us . I've been an internet forum hound for ten years now, beginning with far more aggressive automobile forums.  The success of any forum has always depended on the skills of the moderator.  Alex brings, IMHO, a credibility to this "company" forum that ensures it's sincerity as a dialogue rather than a marketing tool.  Some things he has said and done, and other things he has not done, prove this point time and again. As a community, we have all helped Alex maintain a dynamic, critical and safe place to talk Vacheron.  Thank-you all for a great year!
Very well said, Michael

And very richly deserved, Alex! The idea for the forum was a brilliant one, but even more so, was the having Alex as moderator (brilliant on the part of VC for selecting him, and brilliant on Alex's part for accepting). You are so right, Michael in describing Alex. He has been a moderator in every fine sense of the word, welcoming, knowledgeable, willing to share, always having an encouraging or complimentary thing to say. And even those few times when many of us would feel our blood pressure rising, he has always handled matters with diplomacy and discretion. He has been a good personal friend to those of us who have met him and has never failed to give honest intelligent advice even if its not exactly what we hoped to hear. I agree that he has been a real treasure for Vacheron and has been the prime element in making this site the great success that it has become. I think also that the influence of this site has spread well beyond its denizens. The number of hits has been really astounding and there are many "lurkers" who drop in to absorb the knowledge that resides here amonst the many members. I believe that through Alex we have a voice at Vacheron through which our opinions resonate and are understood. This Lounge and its members owe Alex a great deal. It has become in some sense a comfortable place to visit. If not exactly a second home, then a welcoming club do meet friends and discuss watch related, and other matters. Congratulations and Best Wishes, Alex. Ca vaut s'arroser! Joseph
Well said Michael...

What you wrote represents how we all feel. Its our great fortune to have Alex as our moderator. Each of us has a personal story to tell on how Alex went out of his way to help an HL member. I sincerely appreciate his dedication and professionalism. Its also nice that he thinks of us as his second home. Again thank you.  Best wishes, Matt
