Toying with the Malte Tourbillon...

Most of you know, one of my newest additions is an amazing Malte Tourbillon in RG. I had Alex take care of the whole transaction for me a few weeks before SIHH. I could barely wait to get to Geneva and get my hands on the watch. It is a true piece of art. The tourbillon cage and bridge are out of this world and the finish is superb. It was a one-of-a-kind experience for me to see an exact same cage and bridge being assembled during the tour of the manufacotryToying with the Malte Tourbillon... Alex, thank you so much, once again!

I had a chance to play around with the tourbillon a couple of days ago. Here are some scans:

Wear it in good health .  I'd be so nervous to bump into something .
Thank you Dean. Being careul about the watch is part of ownership...

I actually never wear it around the house...
Radek it's on your wrist it shall be! Best shot!

Tell me, honest, do you wear it to the office? When I checked how much I paid for this several years ago, and it was a lot more than I remebered... and how I use it, a watch that is 70 years old, I start wonder where is the limit? There is one price limit, one fragility limit and most important of all, if you lose or smash it for good.... It's gone, probably this will go anyway, with some others, since in a cleaning up my collection, just too many, and I believe Vacheron Constantin wants me to buy some new ones , not just vintage, and I to if I shall be honest I have made my art deco collecting wider than just watches, so there will be possibilities Thanks for your pics! Carpe Diem Doc
To tell the truth, no office show-off yet...

Hey Mats, Do you believe the modern VCs have the same durability and are tear and wear proof just as the vintage? Makes me wonder... Today's production is more factory like, although still done by hand some components come from a "mass production". Anyway, thanks for your kind comments. Seize the day! Radek
Hey Radek, nice scans and I am pretty certain that shirt
03/12/2009 - 22:47
comes from Doc's tailor? You have lost your Thailand tan for sure by now but I imagine the memories still warm your thoughts. Thanks for sharing and that is really a great timepiece--congratulations! Best, Tim
Thanks for complimentin my shirt, Tim ;-) nt

Radek,  I didn't know you had picked up such a beauty at SIHH (and me thinking you might be getting a PAM...)... Congrats on such a beauty, if I am not mistaken your first tourbillon and your first RG watch! Great choice, it is one of the nicests, if not the nicest tourbillon around!!! And the RG model does look stunning You and JB are lucky boys... With this new, very special model, you've elevated your already impressive collection to a whole new level!  IMHO, this really is the jewel piece of your collection - which one is your favorite (and please don't say all of them)? May it time only happy moments, and thanks for the pictures, I'll be sleeping well tonight Cheers,  Francois
Beautiful Radek, it's so far out of my league...
03/14/2009 - 03:57
that I can't even dream about it . Like Francois asked, out of your tremendous collection, which is your favorite? BR, Dan
Thank you, Dan...

The watch seemed so far out of my reach as well but this awesome opportunity made it available all of a sudden and I didn't have second thoughts about it. It is a great and beautiful watch, worth every penny The favorite though is still the Cortina
Life's full of surprises ;-)

I didn't know I was getting a Malte Tourbillon until this great opportunity came along. Simply couldn't deny and resist it... And here I am with a second RG VC in my collection. Funny thing is my first RG VC - a Royal Eagle LE below no. 50/50 - I got a couple of months before the Tourbillon  - didn't plan on getting it either...  Still the favorite of mine remains unmistakebly - the Cortina Thanks for your kind words, Francois! Say Hi to Olivier for me. He's got beautiful blue eyes
The Cortina is a SUPERB piece & your trip to get it was worth (nt)
03/14/2009 - 18:06
it was worth spending a weekend on a plane and visiting Kuala Lumpur
03/14/2009 - 20:32
some government building - local traditional architecture a park right outside of the Petronas Towers and mall (KL is all about very modern style)  the towers go high up forever - that shot reminds me of the movie Entrapment with Connery and Zeta-Jones and the hero itself - one of the most beauful VC creations ever It definitely was a-one-of-a-kind and unique experience!
The Nice thing with timepiece like this one, is to add our personal

I had forgotten about your RG Royal Eagle... How could I forget, but then again you've been pretty busy these last few months... And yes, that Cortina is absolutely beautiful, and much nicer IMO than its Excellence Platine brother... Cheers,  Francois
Looking good Radek! Wow...
