Two New Additions

I have been considering this one for a while and now that has arrived, I am thrilled.  Everything about this watch is more beautiful in person than I expected - the unique dial, the engraved rotor of the K1120 movement, and the cushion shaped case, which has real presence on the wrist.

And because I have learned that the key to a maintaining a happy marriage while collecting is to share your love, I had to have this for my wife.  She has attended enough VC events with me to be an official Vacheronista.  At 37mm this Prestige de la France is technically a unisex watch, but as it looks a bit too dainty on my wrist, she will have it all to herself after a servicing by VC.

Wow, wow, wow!

Congratulations!  Both of these are on my short list, but particularly that Saltarello. Such a beautiful piece -- both are gorgeous.  The Saltarello looks great on your wrist and it looks like it is in wonderful condition.  I wish VC had or would use that skeletonized rotor on more models than it has, but then again that is part of what makes the Saltarello such a special piece.  May I ask did you get these at auction, from a collector(s)...other source? Best regards as I wipe the drool from my lips, Robert

Thanks for the kind words.  Both were acquired at auction.  The Saltarello came from Sotheby's Geneva auction last month and it is in mint condition.  The PdF came from the Sotheby's auction in NY yesterday.  It came with all the original packaging and papers, and seems to keep good time, but will need to be serviced.
Simply beautiful... and what a happy Vacheron family ;-)

Congratulations!   I've been quite busy for some time now so my participation in the Lounge has been limited to reading for the most part.  However, there are some things that you cannot help but comment on.  These pieces really stirr the (WIS) emotions in me! I have a really soft spot for the Saltarello, expecially in RG.  The abscence of fine minute indices means that it is a watch to wear on those occassions where one can enjoy looking at the time (as against checking your watch to catch a train here in Japan!).  If I had my watch budget to spend all over again, I am sure I would look for one in RG.heart I had the chance to see the employee's version of the PdF with black dial at SIHH in 2008.  Maybe it was the contrast between black and YG, but the watch caught my attention despite being surrounded with an ocean of watches in the event. Again, congratulations on your new babies and for having such good taste.yes May they time only happy moments! Best regards, Kazumidevil

I'm weak in the knees after seeing your WG Saltarello.  What a treat to find the gorgeous movement displayed in the back also heart.  Never noticed before the printing at the bottom of the dial - "SWISS GUILLOCHE MAIN" or Swiss hand guilloche yes.

The Saltarello is to die for. Seeing it in WG with your fabulous scan convinces me this is the one. I passed on a RG hoping to one day land the WG. Plus a great edition number too! Fantastic get! Many congrats. Hope to meet you in NYC one day and see this baby in person Best, Joe
Thanks Joe

It would be a small exhibit.  I don't have the funds or the space to build a museum ;-)
