Vacheron calendar watches part 2 , reference 4140 ? or 4141

A little detail in this fantastic article I am reading two times a day at the moment. :)

http://www.thehourlounge.com/thread/view/quantum-leap-history-of-vacheron-constantin-calendar-watches-part-2_63289_63289.html

There is a reference 4140 or 4141 that we don't see in the article. And they inspired some models in the year 90s/2000s .

Do you have more info on these.

I have found this photo at Sothebys but no reference is indicated in the description.

And these at Antiquroum under the reference 4141 in the text

cheers

Francois

Hi Cisco, I think we'll need the Article's author to chime in on this
02/15/2012 - 03:55
next week when he is back from his travels. wink I've never heard of a ref 4140 or 4141 before and didn't really notice the reference to it in Alex's article until you mentioned it.  I am guessing there was a typing error and that our author meant to say the Historiques triple calendars was inspired/based on ref. 4240.  The Antiquorum text stating a ref. 4141 is confusing to me as well. Interesting pictures that you posted, especially the second one, because I don't think I've ever seen a VC triple date with dauphin hands.  I wonder if the hands are original?  I think you've made a great find if ref. 4140/4141 really exist and are out there, somwhere. Best Regards, Dan
Thanks Dan for your words

Alex did all the job yes, I am just reading it again and again, and it seems to me that there was no typing mistake. I see the lugs which are different from other references and which seems to have inspired the later model, a ref 4140 or 4141 "sounds likely", but infos are scarce. These models are true icons. I had the chance to have a 4764 in my hands once, I thank Alex, Stefani and the Vacheron team for that. I looked at it 2minutes, said "nice", and let it pass to other collectors. I didn't realize my chance at that moment because I didn't take the time to "understand" which piece it is and what it represents in Vacheron History. Now I feel a bit stupid not to have spend hours on it blush
You are holding one of my Dream Watches!

I've seen the watch in it's display case at the Geneva Maison, but have never held one before.  2 minutes is still longer than most of us get, wink I hope Alex confirms and can provide more information about ref. 4140/4141 - I love learning new things about this old brand, heart Best Regards, Dan

Thanks Joseph! I just checked...

Though I think the cal 495 is the one with the moonphase, and cal 485 does not?  (The text says it is a cal 485, but it has a moonphase).  BR, Dan
Well that makes me feel

Data from Antiquorum No. 429583, case No. 273769 could it be 4140 without moonphase and 4141 with?
not ref 4141, these are errors in the auction catalogues!
