Vacheron Constantin Adventures in Beijing

Dear Fellow Loungers,

I have a few leisurely days in Beijing, and took the time to visit one of the VC boutiques here.  This one is along the busy shopping promenade of Wangfujing, near the heart of the capital.

Vacheron Constantin Adventures in Beijing

A wonderful entrance, but alas!  To my disappointment the diplays in the front are completely empty!

The shock is too much for the local citizens...

Vacheron Constantin Adventures in Beijing

An elite crime fighting force is quickly dispatched to investigate...

Until the next installment of "VC Adventures in Beijing!"

Hi James...

I didn't know they still used rickshaws. Weren't they banned as a sign of colonialist oppression or was that in Hong Kong? That one rickshaw looks like it came off the set of the movie "The Good Earth" fron the 1930's. Oops, maybe it did! On closer inspection I think its a "sculpture" By the way, if you want to know what happened to thos watches in the VC Boutique windows, check the pockets of those soldiers! Regards, Joseph
Thanks James......

Dear Fellow Loungers, Thanks for your kind words thus far....already 24 hours has passed and the mystery surrounding the missing VC watches continues... Where have they gone?  Putting on my Sherlock Holmes cap, I begin my own investigation... My first clue leads me to the Forbidden City... Why the Forbidden City you say?  Well, as some of you may know, deep inside is the famous Hall of Watches and Clocks... Inside this Hall, crowds admire haute horlogerie - gifts to the emperor and the Qing court... No sign of the VCs, here....perhaps the Fedex delivery guy dropped them off at the other exhibition in the next Hall? Hmmmm....nope, no luck there either... searching for my next clue, I decide to consult the wise Oracle of Beijing... After some long and deep meditation, the Oracle advises me to ask the fabled Master of Zen... I find him checking his stock portfolio on his Blackberry while being entertained by his court musician.  I politely interupt... "Excuse me Mr Old Zen Master...do you have any idea where the VCs have gone?"  His reply is in the form of interpretive song and dance... Wait a minute....isn't he one of those guys from ZZ Top? Maybe I am on the wrong track here.... Until the next installment! Best regards JAMES
Oh man you are good :-) keep 'em commimg.. (nt)

This definately calls for the services of Dr (not DOC!!) Watson!! Be assured an e-mail has been forwarded to Baker Street as a matter of urgency. Matters of this nature cannot be allowed to fester a second longer than necessary! Bloodhound at the ready!!! NB: Sorry, DOC but this isn't a job for you Watch this space!!!.........

James, Maybe he's looking for the missing "&" in Vacheron Constantin by twisting himself into the shape of one! Joseph
