Hey Berny, what's inside those boxes!!

What are you hiding in there? winkcooldevil
+1 - Berny, stop teasing if you've got something new to show!... (nt)

.
What else can you tell us, Berny?...

Apart from knowing what may be inside themwink, I'd like to know how the boxes have changed in shape, size and colour over the years. Can they be allocated to specific watch models and periods?  Hopefully, fellow Loungers will be able to contribute in this respect. Tony
For you, Tony

In addition to Berny's lovely collection, here is some of my V&C ephemera from an old post... I've since added a few "smalls" that are always useful as storage for various items...
I must have those!

I must have those cuff links, Dean. I also want those Antiquorum books. Been looking for them.
Sorry, they are bespoke :-(

the cufflinks, that is.  The catalogs come up once in a while on fleabay.  Except for the leather-bound Quarter Milllennium - perhaps enquire with the better book sellers.  They really are my "bibles" though yes
Dean how about somme comments on the last two? ;-)

for verifying this Ref. 4166 from 1945 before I pulled the trigger yes.  It really is an absolutely essential service that you and VC provide.  I posted more details at Purists but am reluctant to double-post.  Perhaps the Loungers can tell me their thoughts on this practice? As you previously revealed, V&C did offer a line of jewellery (heck they even made silver shoe buckles) and those boxes can be found from time-to-time.  I believe the long blue box is from a bracelet watch judging by the shaped velvet cutout.
The Lounge and Puristspro have some common members but

Duly appreciated, Dean...

Is there an historic trail concerning VC watch boxes? Incidentally, I've noticed that Alex has picked-up on a couple of items added to your posting - may I join him as my curiosity continues as welllaugh. Thanks again. Tony
I love great boxes even if they end up in the basement for storage ;-)

+1, although I am a bit embarrased to admit it. ;-)

Berny and Dean thanks for showing those boxes.

Would it be possible for you to make a comment on each of the boxes where you indicate the years ( time-periode ) when it was used by VC? Have you been so lucky to get the boxes along with a watch or have you bought them later for a specific watch? Cheers Kent

With the assistance of Berny and others, I'm sure we could feature every style of official box ever provided during the 20th century.  I'm rather busy at the moment with a project for SIHH but after that we'll see laugh.  FWIW, I rarely get the original box with a watch purchase and treat them as ephemera, a seperate area of collecting.
