Great stuff: where do you Guys find these old catalogs?
11/25/2013 - 15:18
Thanks for this! I always wonder where you Guys find these things. Anyhow, always a treat browsing through time and discovering some old but new VC marvels. Best, Stan

I have the same catalogue but was never sure of the year. It's quite a delicate little book. I have sometimes been afraid to open it risking the binding. All the best, Joseph
I do agree Joseph.

It is a lovely little book. Just like you I had some issues about opening the book. However it went well and it is still working. I like the photos in in it and love the little stories about Kings and Queens and their timepieces. I'm a brand collector as you know but VC have such a short historie when you also want a watch from the renaissance periode (love the music from that time) and one clock from the the days when J. S. Bach was creating his masterpieces.   Cheers Kent
You did it again! Thanks Kent

Hi Kent, Thanks for your interesting post and your company at the Hour Club get together in Copenhagen November 23'rd. I loved your collection and especially the antique quarter repeater. It's truly a treasure of Horological art.
Jubii, at last a voice from Denmark.

Welcome to the THL doc. ABJ (I will not use your first name until you choose to use it in here). Thanks for a pleasant day at Nimb in Copenhagen last saturday. It was wonderful to meet Vincent and Kerstin from Vacheron Constantin and to have a day in the company of  other watch entusiast.  I'm glad that you liked my quarter repeater from Vacheron & Constantin from 1830. You have actually seen more of that watch than other members here at THL since I haven't made a proper introduction here of that piece. I hope that you will be participating in the talks and maybe make a post yourself here a THL. There is a lot of nice people here smiley   See you around. Kent
Your not alone in DK any more.....

Thanks Kent for the warm welcome. I have been following the discussions on THL for some time and feel the time is right to get out of the closet.  Best Regards, Andrzej

Wonderfully quirky V&C
11/25/2013 - 20:52
Wonderful stuff Kent yes.   It's so interesting to note the quirky little things, and the tremendous variety in design.  For instance: - notice the 6694 vs 6394 "Q", yet both have date calendar. - also with the 6394; this year features the brushed lugs and bezel instead of linen guilloche design. - some watches were described as "ladies" while other ladies watches were not so described, ie, pg 39 vs 40. - are those on pg.41 unisex? - some ladies pieces with very small dials featured an abbreviated "V&C" and others with apparently equal sized dials had the full Vacheron & Constantin signature, ie, 6932 vs 6973. - V&C was leaning heavily on the cal. 1003 this year; truly thin was in! - first time I've seen the haute joaillerie series called "Rivière". Thanks for this blast from the past smiley
Thanks Dean.

Still just acting on your request a long time ago. I do hope that more will follow your request. Yes you are right about the "Q". I noticed the same in the retailer catalogue from 1967. V&C back in those days sure don't make it easy to be a collector. Regarding page 40 I do believe that it is a mistake and that it is a "ladies" model. I guess you believe the same smiley. Regarding the signature on the watches. My wife bought a V&C watch with cal 1005 watch this year. I haven't made a post about it so far but it is really tiny. So the V&C make sense on that kind of watches. And for the "Rivière" collection. They are gorgeous. You are really good in studying these little books and it is always a pleasure to hear what you have noticed.   Best wishes Kent
Superb, some iconics are still there! (nt)
