Vacheron Constantin introduces the new Malte Power Reserve Moonphase

unfortunately only reserved for the Taiwanese market :-(

This watch (Ref 83050) is limited to 88 pieces (42 in white gold and 46 in pink gold). The hand wind manufacture caliber 1410 (bearing the Geneva Seal) is housed in a 38mm case from the Malte line.

Unfortunately the watch has a solid case back but this is what caliber 1410 looks like.

Marvellous !

The most astonishing watches are just flowing out of the old Maison right now

But why not for all ?

This is just a stunner !

This time, and that's quite seldom,

I especially like the WG,

with that rare dial

I don't agree with you Doc

The power reserve is way too close to the moonphase, i don't like this guilloché pattern, the hands etc....

I realy can't stand the Malte collection.

Alex, now you can banned me from the forum :-)

diverse and negative comments are welcome. There is nothing worse than

brand glorification!

I may ban you for poor taste though

My dear friend !

Let me state this.

Taste is taste

I would definitely have preferred it without power reserve,

that I agree on !

The power reserve is, a matter of fact, why I didn't order a 1755 !

So to h-ll with all power reserve, OK ?

But as an owner of one Malte, the DTR,

which took me three years to order,

because I had difficulties with the lugs,

but now it's my daily watch !

I just been down bathing with these two guys,

and the watch was on

It's perfectly lovely here way up North, 26° C in the shadow,

and the water was cold but refreshing....

I can say that on our private bay we bath without clothes,

and after a dip, you don't impress on the opposite sex

So, I like your taste, you know that,

but the Malte is better live,

and I still think it's a lift for VC,

not a watch for you or me,

but perhaps for the little more chic men.....

Back to the shadow reading W. Churchill,

and something cold with bubbles in it beside !

Enjoy life Doc

But I agree with you Mercator...

Dont like this piece att all.  The dial looks imho pretty cheap when it lacks of symmetry like in this case. Just like that dual time Overseas it looks messy in some way...done in a hurry.

Guess you cant hit a homerun everytime.

Hey llloyd..welcome back :-) (nt)

Thx Alex, good to be back! :-) (nt)

What a surprise!! I like it alot, the lack of symetry attracts me and
06/08/2007 - 17:06

I find the applied stars on the dial pretty attractive.

How come some of the nicer pieces are reserved for certain markets? I'm thinking of this piece as well as the awsome Malte prepetual that was made for the Russian boutique.

You and I get a little envy, don't we

But look on it from a different side,

this is fantastic ,

so many years I have been devoted to VC,

and then it's the ketchup effect !

You shake and shake the bottle and nothiong comes,

then you knock on the bottom and everything is flowing

And what is more amazing, is that it's not only variations on one theme,

like Reverso, Royal Oak, and not least Panerai and Rolex !

These are completely new watches,

but still with a heritage !

And yes, we want them all over the world !

This last year, when Torres and Bernaz, where put together,

I knew something extraordinary would come,

but I had not in my dreams believed what the VC,

and it's wrong to point out two persons,

but since I know them both,

I can't let be.

they are the catalysts,

they are so extremely important,

for us, aficionados,

and most of all for the all in the Company !

That's just marvellous

Doc bravo!! That was you 200th post on The Hour Lounge!!!!

keep it up

Thanks !

Now it's 202

It will be very intersting when it will be 252,

like the famous firm !

Very nice but not really original...

Hate to be a party pooper but the design is a nice variation of the Japanese LE of two years ago (which was probably inspired by the ladies complication).  The design (dial pattern, indices) is the same as far as I can see, except for the sharper hands (which I like very much), the stars, and the different dial and case offerings.  I attached a photo of the Japanese LE several posts earlier (will refrain from attaching one now though).  All the same, I liked the Japanese LE a lot (which was very handsome in WG with matt black dial) and I must say these variation does not disappoint either.

"There is nothing worse than brand glorification!"

So I should probably fear, because I never criticize VC . The new Malte is marvellous.

Is Taiwan a big market for VC? What is the criteria for introducing L.E. for certain markets? Is it good sales in that market?

Honestly, I was not a fan of the Malte moonphase for the Japanese market, and although I like this one better, I still think the new upcoming Malte PR is much nicer looking. I just think that for a men's watch, a moonphase should be accompanied with date. I don't find moonphase without date on a men's watch very masquiline. But I guess if and when i see these watches in the flesh i might change my opinion. Photos never do justice to the real thing.

To obtain a limited edition for a sepcial market depends on
06/10/2007 - 11:13

the requests from the brand representative for that market which can feel a demand for a certain type of product and asks the head quarters for that special piece.

Malte Power Reserve Moonphase : I am looking for
08/13/2014 - 21:01

more info on different models produced with either manual calibre 1410 (moon phase, small second at 6H and PR) or manual calibre 1420 (date, small second at 6H and PR).

I have identified ref 83060 Malte round case with cal 1420 and ref 83080 Malte tonneau case with cal 1410.

Thanks for sharing your knowledge on these models and maybe others: Does ref 83070 exist?

Best wishes,
