I am in the posession of a Vacheron (not mentioning Constantin)

Unless your timepiece is pre-1800 and one of only a handful ever found, its likely one of the notorious Swiss fakes using the singular name "Vacheron" during the 19th century.  An amusing letter responding to an enquiry can be found in the archives from 1850, as recorded in the Art of Vacheron Constantin auction catalog:There is no maker of horlogoy by the name of "Vacheron Freres".  There are many watches with this name, but they are imitations of secondary quality.  There are a great many people who, not wishing to give themselves the trouble of making a name, find it useful to use that of another.  You may affirm without fear that it is a false name.
