Vacheron's les historiques chrono vs Roger Dubuis hommage chrono..

needless to say , i blew my watch budget again, nothing much is left for my mercator, which anyway is nowhere in sight !

excuse me for the poor pics, i am not known to be a good photographer , but an iphone photographer Vacheron's les historiques chrono vs Roger Dubuis hommage chrono..
nevertheless, i am known to possess the artistic stroke, aka alcoholic shaky hands. so don't bother to explode my pics.

the same movement with different asethetics and interpretation. both 37mm and in white metal , palladium vs platinum for the VC.
the palladium looks and feels to me like steel , the platinum has a very nice heft.

interestingly, on pics, the RD appears bigger. on the wrist, however, VC wears bigger. but they are of the same size. one feature i really like about the hommage is the concave bezel, which does not attract dings.

i leave it to yr own conclusion. for me, both are classics, there was not a second of hesitation getting the company for my VC! both are silent killers, and grows on me with time spent.

camera tricks ! so we shouldn't trust so much the publicity pics, to see and wear the watches in real to decide.
2 nice chronographs

Thanks for your comparison and photos. Even if the calibre is based on the same Lemania, I have a preference for the VC chronograph for: - Platinium feeling and aspect - Lugs and pushers forms - sub dials which do not croos over other scales - 1/2 Malte cross on buckle my 2 cents, Cheers, Liger
yes, the heft with the platinum is something, the hommage is 67% ....
03/08/2011 - 06:28
lighter than the historiques with tang buckle , even with the deployant buckle. it shows how generous VC is with their metal.
it should have been 33% lighter. nt.

The Dubuis with the sector dial is a beautiful hommage to the classical Patek. But I think the overall design is a bit too classic imho. The old Patek had always something special. (thin lugs and design of the 130, pushers of the 1463 compared to the case etc...) Though a beautiful hommage and a tremendous finish on these Dubuis, quite a catch because they are very complicated to find nowadays. The Vacheron has more personnality and is an hommage to her own brand, nice moderne version of a classic. The shape, the lugs, everything is VC. Two magnificent chronograph, congrats !
actually i really like the VC ref 49002 chrono, especially the case...

saw it at an auction, but the gold too yellow for my liking :  pic from alex
Great new addition Aaron!

The Dubuis really does look bigger, even on your wrist!  I guess this is a perfect example of why watches should be tried on the wrist before making any conclusions about being too large or too small. I'm not a doctor, but I've always had the thing for the pulsometer dials - very nice! Congrats on the new watch,  I hope to see it in the metal someday. Best Regards, Dan
yes, u see through my thoughts of the pulsometer......
03/08/2011 - 06:54
being doc for a day means a lot to me. fact is, i admire classic designs, those designs that can lasts a long time and lingers.  the pulsometer being one, the pushers and case.  yummy ! also, for the fact that it is larger than most vintage chronographs, offers a see through back, a larger crown and recessed bezel. i like the thought-through of designs, functional yet classic, a pre-requisie of a modern watch i would collect.  it's difficult to stay monogamous being a WIS. however, there are not too many i will stray for.
Both are delicious...
03/08/2011 - 18:02
but VC is more to my liking and taste Wear them both in the best of health, Aaron!
the hommage to company the king ! thanks. nt.

That Hommage has to be the 40 mm case!
03/08/2011 - 20:39
what do the papers say (the first part of the reference number will be H 40 or H 37, depending on the size of the case in mm). I like the "sector" dial on the RD, it reminds me of some old Patek designs. The Historiques Chronograph is gorgeous, especially in platinum. Bill
the beautiful parchment it came with tells it all.....

oh dear, u just reminded me i am a bad, bad photographer ! since u brought out the other brand ....
my apologies, xavier (foversta)...
