I'm so busy at my new job that I haven't had much time for anything other than surviving my job. But after 15 months of owning my VC, the watch has yet to miss a day of use, and it still averages over 12 hours a day of wrist time. I don't check in much nowadays, but my girlfriend sent me a photo that I just had to share. I haven't had the fortune of visiting a VC boutique, but she happened across one while in Shanghai for work. She knew nothing about VC, other than that I wear one. But after chatting about why VC is so special, she now has a bit better appreciation for the company and its watches.
Hi Jason, Interesting...

Did you girlfriend say where in Shanghai this Boutique is? I don't see it listed on VC's website that lists the Shanghai retailer locations (I've been to all 3 Shanghai locations). Sounds like this is a new spot and I'd love to visit. Please ask her to provide more information if she can, and thank her for sharing. I hope you've gotten by the survival period of your job? Best Regards, Dan

Dan, maybe it's not in Shanghai? I know she's traveling around that area for her research, but maybe she was in another city at the time. I'll ask her for details. As for surviving at the job, new tenure-track professors are told that the first year (!!!) is basically about survival. Learning to teach a class (often for the first time). Getting one's research lab set up. Recruiting the first group of grad students. Writing grant proposals. It is my dream job, but it sure is busy!
The very best of luck...

I used to be a TA and worked on several independent research programs when I was in school many many years ago. But those 1-1 opportunities to work professors that I admired the most gave me a glimpse of what the tenure track looks like...including the challenges. I wish you the very best of luck in your chosen carreer. I'm very happy to hear that it is your dream job! Best Regard, Dan
Boutique is in Ningbo

Dan, you're right... this isn't one of the boutiques in Shanghai. It's the boutique in Ningbo. Cheers, Jason
Thanks, I used to go to Ningbo in the mid/late 90s...

but haven't been back there since. I'm sure, like the rest of China, that Ningbo has changed dramatically over the past decade or so. Coincidentally, I had the chance to meet the owner of the Ningbo Boutique in this past January while at SIHH. I went to the VC's Geneva Boutique to buy a deployant clasp and the Ningbo Boutique owner walked in. We had a nice conversation and then went our seperate ways. Best Regards, Dan
