VC Overseas Chrono in RG or YG with matching bracelet

Hi Everyone,

I've been thinking about this watch lately and was in Wempe's in NY recently and tried on one (not chrono) in YG and it looked beautiful.  Then someone suggested that before I jumped I should look at the RG one as it's lovely and I'm definitely going to do just that.

I've never owned an all gold watch before and I'm a little worried about the bling factor.  I have a RG Malte Chrono which I love but it's obviously not on a bracelet.

If you have any opinions on this I'd very much appreciate hearing themVC Overseas Chrono in RG or YG with matching bracelet .  Thanks in advance.

Best regards,

Tom

watch on a gold bracelet and definately one I wish I had because I'm really itching for the all rose gold chrono . I'm generally not a great fan of yellow gold watches and even less on bracelet, wheras the YG model in my opinion would look a bit old the RG looks danm gorgeous Just my 2c

Thanks Alex for your opinion and that heart stopping picture.  I think the YG will not be an option after I get a load of that RG in person.  WOW--I can't wait to try it on. Best regards, Tom

The RG is quite a stunner but just remember that with the bracelet it's a very heavy watch. I would wear it but with a dark brown strap not a bracelet. Although I do like the bracelet and its very attractive, it's too ostentatious for me (but that would be true with any gold watch and bracelet, not just VC) But there is no question that its a real "eye-popper"! Thanks JB!  It's something I worry about and definitely something to consider. Best, Tom
some more scans of the RG model with bracelet and strap

the all gold bracelet version can also be fitted with a beautiful brown rubber or croc strap

Alex, Thank you; those scans are lovely.  That rubber strap is definitely something to consider.  I'm beginning to re-think the all gold but I'm definitely going to try one on. Regards, Tom
I had the chance to see and wear this OS in RG with

rubber strap twice. I am not a big fan for the OS but I admit that this one is a really really nice timepiece.

Go and try them on and see them in person...

That RG Overseas chronograph on a matching bracelet is stunning!!!  Last month I tried it on in Las Vegas, and they had the same watch on a leather strap, but to me the RG Overseas on the leather strap is like getting only half of the watch.  IMHO, the bracelet really completes that watch.  The way the Maltese Cross part of the bracelet looks in rose gold is just amazing.   Someone mentioned the weight of the watch on the bracelet, and to be honest, that was something I liked about it.  To me it felt well balanced.  I find that some heavy gold sport watches on rubber/leather straps often feel topheavy.   As for the bling factor, even on a strap the RG Overseas is not going to be as modest as a rose gold Malte DTR, so don't waste your time trying to go there.  Sure it takes some confidence to wear an all gold watch on a gold bracelet, but if you don't already have one, just get it for what it is and enjoy it.  Afterall, you already have a more modest looking watch in the form of the Malte DTR. Its not often that a sports watch looks better in all gold than in steel, but IMHO in rose gold this watch stands head and shoulders above its SS sibling. Good luck and let us know what you decide. Thank you Dino.  I appreciate the words of encouragement.   It's funny, I knew I liked the YG one (all gold) and the red gold one really appeals to me too but I got nervous when I got so many "look outs" so it's good to hear another viewpoint.  I'm definitely going to look at the RG one on the bracelet and I'll keep you posted.  Thanks for your opinion! Best regards, Tom

as I think wearing a gold bracelet is not an easy thing to pull off.  In so many instances, it screams "look at me" and in many ways, that is so un-VC, a brand that exudes class and refinement.  Of course, it is an issue of personal preference and you should choose what you are comfortable with and what suits your personality. Happy shopping! Cheers, Duncan

Hi Duncan, Thanks for your input.  I know the "look at me" part and it's not what I would be going for.  It's just an all gold watch seems cool (at least the thought of it does) but that down side is a big one.  I guess I won't be able to tell unless I see it in the metal.  Thanks for your opinion; I appreciate it. Best regards, Tom

Rose gold, no question! And absolutely agree with Duncan and JB (especially on the dark brown leather bracelet). All gold is definetely too much for me but hey, have a try at the all gold and then maybe they can fit the watch with a leather bracelet so that you can make your choice accordingly. This is only my advice, the important is that you feel comfortable and enjoy your watch

Hi Tacha, Well it looks like the RG or YG question got sorted out! Thanks for your feedback; I'll check the straps.  It looks like that route is fairly unanimous.

Cheers,

Tom

Tom, unlike many, I do believe that the gold bracelet is not too much

The watch is so impressive and beautiful with the bracelet. OK, it is a little bit more flashy, but I don't think it's too much... it's not like you want it incrusted with diamonds! GO ahead, make yourself happy, and go with the bracelet - you know you want it!! I would definitely wear it without even thinking twice about it, but then again maybe I like a bit of flash sometimes But please make sure to go for RG - and post pictures when you get it!!! Cheers, Francois

Hi Francois, I've been travelling all week so I'm sorry I haven't been able to respond to you post which I appreciate very much. You made me feel better about the idea of the all gold (RG) watch ( I was beginning to think maybe I was crazy to like this) and I'm definitely going to see that one in the flesh before I make my mind up.....and you know what.....maybe I like a little bit of flash at times too!  You got my enthusiasm up again!  Thanks! Best regards, Tom
Good to hear - I really hope that you go for it! :-)
