VC is ranked n°2 in the top 10 watch brands

Hello everyone!

United Brands LLC publishes its top 10 lists for diamond, jewellery and watch brands and in the top category of Premium watch brands, Vacheron Constantion is second only to Patek. It is called the "hour lounge effect".

The details are in the link below

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you all!

The ranking doesn't surprise me but what does is the fact

that Dubey ad Schaldenbrand competes in the Premium section whereas true high end manufactures such as AP and GP are in the Luxury section. Come to think of it where are JLC and IWC?  On the other hand having put Lange in the list just shows these guys do know something about watches right?
IWC were there, or did I dream it?! :0) (nt)

This list has too many inconsistencies IMHO...

Loungers, What would be your Top 10 list of high-end watch brands? Mine is: 1) Patek Philippe 2) Vacheron Constantin 3) Audemars Piguet 4) A. Lange  5) Breguet 6) JLC 7) Blancpain 8) F.P. Journe 9) GP 10) Chopard I only picked brands with an annual production of at least 5,000 pieces.  What do you guys think? Best, Mike

if we choose brands and not individual artisans I would

be pretty much in agreement with tou (but maybe not in the same order :-) )

Greubel Forsey and Debethune would definately make the list if we were to chooe boutique brands.

I agree that Gruebel Forsey and DeBethune are awesome...

Also, if VC was to place an inhouse movement in the Overseas and introduce their new inhouse chrono they would certainly be at the top of my list over Patek. But, currently that is not the case so, against my will, I had to place them at #2.  Cheers, Mike
F.P. Journe production is about 800 per year. (nt)

That is true, I slipped one smaller production manufacturer in there

Who wrote the category ist?

Thank you for the post. Interesting selection...The traditional PP-VC rivalry is not new, and Patek's PR is very active, so not really much to say about that. The lists themselves are, let's say, "original" in composition. Things got mixed up it seems. Panerai and Harry Winston are premium, GirardPerregaux and Audemars are luxury, well...And the coupling of TAG, Baume and Omega with Gucci seems a stretch... But, the effort is good, it shows the power of the brands. The problem lies with a strange division into forced categories. Second place...not to shabby - bringing back the "&" will probably be enough for a win ;)
This list is, to say the least, not authoritative.

Who knows how it was compiled and what was the role of business relationships between the compiler and the favored ten? If VC were not on the list we would correctly dismiss it as meaningless; the fact that VC happens to be on the list does not give it any more meaning. "Even a blind pig finds an acorn occasionally."
Congrats to VC but the authors of the list have mixed up categories..

so this is no benchmark for me....

Thank you for posting. It was an interesting article to read. Was surprised at some of the rankings especially AP being so low :)). So happy to see VC standing apart and at the top of its class :)). Best regards, Matt
