1) What metals would you like to see introduced? Today the QDI exists in titanium, palladium and rose gold or any mix thereof.

2) What complications would you like to see in the QDI?

3) Would you like to see the automatic time only model also available with the personalization feature?

my votes on future QdI:
01/29/2009 - 18:52
1) steel, white gold, tantalum 2) world time and perpetual calendar 3) sure thing and Hour Lounge special edition QdI in steel/tantalum on top of it
how about this QdI Chrono in SS/Ti for a change, again?
01/29/2009 - 22:10
+1...in-house chrono, please!!
01/30/2009 - 01:27
It would be absolutely AWESOME if VC launched a new, fully integrated in-house chrono (self-winding) in a Quai de l'Ile case. The first batch could be a limited edition of 100, in platinum and tantalum (yes, tantalum!), with a blueish transluscent dial, colored to match the tantalum case elements. Best, Paul
+1 vote also

that will be nice!

1) After the Zenithium, the Hublonium, why not the Vacheronium? LoL! More seriously: steel, tantalium, ceramic (mat), would be great :) 2) Even if I already know that it is impossible, a QdI BiRetro would be a dreamwatch for me! Another dream: a Calendar or perpetual Calendar with THE moonphase, but with a modern interpretation to match with the spirit of the QdI. 3) YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES!!!

rattrapante but have it as a monopoussoir using steel.
A few thoughts...

1. This is certainly a topic of frequent discussion both inside the manufacture and outside in the community.  Before considering specific materials and/or metals, I think that they should compliment the current options.  By either providing a different look or oerhaps a different price point, then the material can successfully augment the initial 3 choices.  If I recall correctly, however, there is currently not a huge gap between the prices of titanium and rose gold and palladium.  In theory, steel would offer a lower price point, but would it be significantly different?  If so, then it could open QDI to a broader market.  Ceramic is an interesting possibility because it possesses a very different look and feel.  Personally, I would be quite interested but I am not sure if it is truly "VC".  Tantalum is yet another interesting possibility but I am concerned if it offers enough of a difference from the current metals in terms of price and appearance. 2. Where to begin?   The open design of QDI would provide a great platform for a tourbillon.  A beautifully finished tourbillon would marry well with the look of QDI to create a very contemporary looking timepiece that carries forward the theme of fine craftsmanship integrated with modern design by VC.  A chronograph is probably one of the more popular choices and perhaps QDI could be a collection in which VC's in-house chronograph movement is eventually integrated.  Lastly, and this one is from way out there , how about a repeater?  Once again, the QDI design could lend itself well to being able to see the chiming gongs.  Okay, this won't be a huge seller (what repeater or sonnerie is?) but it could be truly magnificent. 3. I will concur with my fellow Loungers and say "yes" but on the condition that it can be delivered in a reasonable timeframe and also not negatively impact the delivery times of other models.  Choices and options are terrific but there is always a cost and I fear that in this case, that cost might be time.  As I undestand it, the current delivery timeframe for customized QDI watches is reasonable and if that standard can be maintained, then I am for it. Okay, I think I misstated when I said, "a few thoughts..." Cheers, Duncan

Hello Fellow Loungers! 1) I would love to see steel as a new introduction. 2) A dual time function is a must for all frequent travellers 3 Personalization on the auto only model would be nice Best regards JAMES
My whishes are following.

  1. Yellow gold, of course, a watch model with several appearences must have the base, and it's YG, further more I like YG
  2. a. Chronometer.      b. only time, no date.       c. World Time.     All models in manual or automatic.
  3. Yes.

Comments: Yellow is the 'natural' colour of gold. If you have as I and most of you, you are wellknown to the problem with automatic watches. Putting them on winder every day. I don't have place in my safe at home for a winder for several watches. Plus for me it's a rather sensual feeling to wind a watch . A 'pure' time only would be a 'cheap' in step model, and I also happen to like that kind of watches, note that I don't even want date. Radek please, make one 'time only', for me in your photoshop, in YG, thanks ! Hej! Doc

Good news...

my picks
01/30/2009 - 13:08
1) steel, tantalum or another funky new metal 2) a chronograph and a tourbillon 3) yes
Good question
01/30/2009 - 14:17
1- steel, or steel and tantalum 2- chrono with in-house movement; why not a mono poussoire? 3- yes
I'm beginning to come around on this...

I must admit that the basic case design of the QDI is beginning to grow on me. I'm still not in love with the dial however. It seems that the concept of the transparent dial is going to be with us, and it seems to be maturing in it's use. I think that it works well for some type of displays and poorly with others. For example, chronograph and date information is really hard to gleen from the visual depth of the dial. Other things, like moonphase, power reserve, a tourbillon, would work well. I'd like to see a new dial in the QDI case for calendar/chronograph models. Maybe with a tantalum coating to give it a nice post industrial feel in the manner of the transparent dial. I would also like to see a sub seconds in the transparent dial, perhaps with a moire type pattern. Oh, and yes to steel, ceramic and the monopusser for the chronograph.

I'll modify my earlier description of the "ideal" (well, for me at least) QDI: a titanium case for lightest weight possible, stainless steel winding stem and bezel, to highlight the dial which is lightest solid colour for maximum visibility. Rubber strap, of course, and titanum buckle. Truly Quai de la Montagne!
Hope I can still get my vote in on this one.

#1  Just the addition of Stainless Steel #2 A chronograph with the rectangular pushers #3 Yes, my AD's on the West Coast have also voiced a yes on this one. Sorry for the short reply to this important post, it's a tough time right now. Best to you all, Tim

It's a cool watch, it shall only get cooler Answers to : Q1: Steel / mix of white gold and titanium D2: Minute repeater, and moonphase, because when one watches the moon on the quai of a island; ) it's very easy for him/her to lose count of time, that's where a minute repeater comes useful : ) I3: Any reason why not  Hope these are not too much to ask and soon VC can say: with QDI, anything is possible
