The VC watches in competition for the Geneva Watchmaking Grand Prix

The Geneva Watchmaking Grand Prix is to watchmaking what the Academy Awards or the Cannes Film Festival are to the film industry: a must and an incredibly important event which cannot be missed.

Each brand can enter as many number of watches to compete in each category (only rule being that the waches should be available by Dec 08). In September the jury which is made of an international pannel of independent industry insiders (mainly journalists) will short list 10 watches in each category. These 10 watches will then be officially candidates for best watch in their category and on November 13 the winners of each category shall be announced at a ceremony in Geneva's Grand Theatre.

Here are Vacheron Constantin's entries.

I can see VC sweeping the main Geneva Watchmaking Grand Prix

in at least two categories this year (men's and design watch). I hope they do better than that! Keeping my fingers crossed!
Thanks Alex

I'm hoping also that VC will win something for its QdI - it would be well deserved... I'm a little bit sad that the 47212 wasn't put up for Complicated Watch, it would have been nice to be able to brag about it had it won  In fact, did the 47112 ever win an award also? Cheers, Francois
the fact that you bought one is the greatest award :-) I don't

know if the Malte perpetual chrono EP did win any other award.
LE's might not qualify, but it is definitely a winner in my book (nt)

Cheers guys for the moral support...

...it will be though, but I'll get through it
I agree with you francois, the 47212 should be up

for the awards. There is a certain elegance that comes in such simplicity of style and clarity. JohnLy
Glad to see we're on the same page

and that the unfortunate events haven't dampered your passion for this piece!
Overseas Chrono, RG with the brown face is simply a modern classic,

end of story. I cannot imagine the QDL will not get an award too and a sweep would be nice of course! Really a bumper crop this year. Best to all, Tim
Tim, I think that the dial of the OS is actually grey

It's made in anhtracite I believe... Only the dual time LE had a chocolate dial. Having said that, it is still an amazing piece and I sure hope it will win!
Looks like I was working off of memory, I like them both!

to be fair, the dial in the picture does look brown, and I did think the same until Alex corrected me.
For several categories, I would vote for VC...
08/22/2008 - 03:33
...for the full calendar watch, the design watch and the men's watch!
I agree with Radec, and I think should win minimum once!

QdI is innovative and should attract people: let's see.
