Nnot sure how they came up with the name Chronoscope, but it started with a Pocket Watch with the same display.

Chronoscope was an early horlogical term for stopwatches and chronographs.  The use of Chronoscope for the 1930s pocket watch of that design was started by collector's, and I don't believe the 1994 wrist watch version ever officially adopted the name.
