Vintage Watch identification

I gather this is a pocket watch? The case back isn't genuine, is the movement signed?

The gold scrappers got to this one :-(. It should still have a serial number on the back of the cuvette which, along with the visible movement number, should confirm the piece.

Looks like you have a bit of a project on your hands there.  Does it at least run?  Thankfully not a cylinder escapement so repairs are more realistic but costs will quickly surpass the value.  The missing case greatly impacts collector interest except as a parts watch.  If you are an amatuer watchmaker, it would be a nice achievement to bring it back to life in some form.
