Visiting a Friend

Earlier this week, three of us flew near 30 hours to visit a friend.

Visiting a Friend

Alex, being a gracious host, hosted lunch for us.  The lunch delighted my taste buds, which had otherwise lost its sense from the lack of sleep (no thanks to an engine fault, requiring the plane to return to airport, about than an hour into the flight).  The visit to the VC Museum, just before the lunch (and subsequent visit of the Manufacture), perked the three of us up.  Mr Jerome Meier (the gentleman on the extreme right in the photo) is knowledgeable and facilitated interaction, instead of him doing the talking alone.

And it got even better thereafter, having to see Alex again (he didn't seem to age) and a great chat over lunch.  We spoke about the new Malte series and how we like the platinum version most, even though we couldn't quite place on the exact reason(s) why so.  Could be due to its complete roman indices (instead of only at 12, 3, 6 and positions etc) and lively dial.  We also chatted about the 1972 (manual winding please), ladies as watch collectors, the different watch markets and Dan (we only have good words for him, of course), amongst other topics.

Appreciated having to visit several units in the Manufacture and having to feel the passion to watch making from a few of those whom we spoke with briefly.

Food pictures!  Where are the watches?!?!  Just kidding...looks like a wonderful time smiley.  Alex doesn't age, we know that, but my Dr. says eyesight gets worse wink.
You're absolute right.

About the watch photos. I actually forgot to take a group wrist shot, even though that's one of the things I wanna do before the lunch was served
Thanks for the report.

It looks and sounds like a great visit. If you have any more phjotos, please post them.  Ah, but now it looks like we have one more think to collect:  Vacheron dinner plates!  Best, Robert
Spot on, Robert

My wife often comment that I become much more lively when the topic revolve about timepieces. See you in few months.
Great story and pics. Alex, just out of curiosity, what

brand of tableware does VC use?
I have no idea :-)

Great report Melvin - some real dedication there. Unfortunately the only way I'm likely to see Alex is if he announces a world tour and includes Australia smiley   If you do come out Alex I make a mean toasted ham sandwich , so be sure to bring your camera.
Not sure about Australia,
10/29/2012 - 14:32
but Alex could be planning something early next year in Singapore. It's been quite awhile since he's last here & several friends here would probably like to catch up with him. Not forgetting the local food here are waiting to tempt him again

the VC dinner in Singapore in February 2011, where I met Alex. I travel to Singapore often, and would love the opportunity to atttend a VC dinner / meet Alex and other Loungers again. smiley

Nice! I saw many VC ads in HK too! I am in the advertising industry actually so I feel happy when I see the brands I like advertised!
