watch stopped running

My VC Patrimony Traditionelle date self-winding stopped running about a week ago. :( Just randomly stopped out of the blue near the end of a dinner party. Best I can tell looking at the back, maybe the hairspring broke or disconnected. I now live in Iowa, where there are no VC retailers. Any clue how best to proceed? Should I contact the service center in Fort Worth, TX? Would it be better to contact the NYC boutique? Or is there some better way to proceed? And on a related note, any clue what this is going to cost me to have fixed? Thanks for any help or information that you can provide. It feels so odd no longer wearing a VC on my wrist after having done so for every day in the last 16 months.

I'm really sorry to hear about your watch Jason!

I believe the official process is to send the watch to Fort Worth, but with the new NYC Boutique and dedicated watchmaker - I don't know which one is better.  Hopefully Alex or others would no what the best process is. I remember you bought the watch new at an AD in LV?  New VCs have a 2-year warranty, so it should not cost you anything to have it fixed. I hope it is nothing serious and gets remedied quickly! BR, Dan

Thanks Dan. Hopefully others have advice as to how best to proceed. I bought my watch secondhand, and it's about 2.5 years old now. Jason
yikes! no idea what could have happened, I guess sending it directly

to the service center in TX would be faster than sending to boutique who would then send to service center but will ask and get back to you rapidly
Thanks Alex! I appreciate you looking into it. [nt]

Thanks Alex. I'll contact the boutique when I have some time to hopefully get my VC fixed and back on my wrist soon.

Hi Jason Sorry to hear about your watch, I have similar experienced with all my Vacheron watches (three) with my overseas now in for repair a third time. From experience you can expect a minimum  cost of Usd 2000/ this covers a basic dissmantling lube and re-assembly. I would reccomend sending to an authorised dealer who has a master watchmaker in house, the alternative, i.e. Switzerland typically takes around 4 months minimum. Well thats my experience to date. Jason, allow the possible best place to look at it. Boutique are helpful but they are mainly to sell VC. Service center will look at it and may send it back to Europe. You want it done right, not just quickly. Love VC but I know these things do happen to fine watches.

Thanks for your thoughts. That makes a lot of sense to me. As much as I want it fixed NOW, I want it done right. And yeah, it's unfortunate that it happened with my watch, but I can accept that things happen. Just as long as they don't happen too often. Jason
