What goes around must come around...

After having sold my SS/brown strap Royal Eagle Chrono with a grey dial to a friend of mine a few months ago it never crossed my mind I would ever buy another one back... Well, collecting watches is a road that takes different turns and bumps as well as surprises in the most unexpected moments.

So while on my business trip to Munich, Germany this week I went to take a closer look at a Royal Eagle Chrono in rose gold with a guilloche grey slate dial made in 50 pieces only. It was more out of curiosity rather than thinking to get it - I simply have never seen this version in person. And then it struck me - the sheer beauty of this piece was too compelling to say 'no' to... just awesome RG case and dark dial combintaionWhat goes around must come around... (and that coming from a white metal only lover). It was also in perfect - like new - condition, the original owner (some famous German actor) received it from VC as a gift and didn't give it much wrist time. In addition to this, the watch is no. 50 out of 50What goes around must come around..., so the last one of the whole series.

I haven't taken my own pix yet so I am posting a couple of the dealers scans. Will deliver home-made scans soon...

Enjoy!

That's just lovely Radek.  I can see why you couldn't resist that one let alone the number 50 of 50. Wear it in the best of health!! Best regards, Tom
you're right Tom - the caseback number alone is worth...

Is that something in the works Alex?  Also, when one did update an older post, could it bump up to the front again? HAGWE, Dean
and flair that is, Dean! For my own taste, this version has character

and well defined style which in my opinion other Royal Eagle models lack (neither fully sports nor quite elegant in style)
not convinced by the bump function where threads with new
11/30/2008 - 18:14
posts bump on top of the page. It is fine for forums where posts are little but for others it just becomes unreadable.
I'm thinking just bump the post, not the thread....
11/30/2008 - 19:21
so a new post on an old thread comes up as new, but the thread remains back on the date it was started.  A link such as "read entire thread" would connect the interested person back to the original topic.  That may in the long run save space, make searching easier, and keep repitition of information to a minimum.
WOOOOOOOW !

Being a white metal fan as well, I nevertheless totally understand why you fell for this amazing piece!!! Enjoy it!
Thank you for the kind words, Natacha!

I simply couldn't resist it... and didn't have a second thought because of the case metal color
Wow!!

This is by far the nicest version of thin watch I have ever seen. I am partial to the dark dial but with the guilloched pattern its outstanding! Congratulations, Radek. Wear it in excellent health. Joseph
Absolutely agree, Joseph! That is why I decided to humbly come back..

This watch certainly does have a different look to it from the other Royal Eagle pieces that I have seen.  I am looking forward to seeing your own photos as these from the dealer look more yellowish than what I would have expected.  Like you, I am a white metal fan but have been tentatively experimenting with RG as long as it is more red/rose than yellow.  Congratulations again and wear it in good health for many years to come. Now, I wonder if this German actor will be receiving any future watches from VC now that he has sold this one...   I say, skip the actor and just give it to a real VC fan like you Radek!  Cheers, Duncan
Hi Duncan, from what I've been told German market is not much focused
11/30/2008 - 11:10
on VC  They are just fond of other brands... That is probably why VC is looking for alternative methods to build and support its image. No better way than doing it through celebrities and role models' endorsement. Anyway, you're right about the pictures. They tend to be on the yellowish side. In fact, the watch's case is very light rose... and it looks absolutely gorgeous in contrast with the dark dial. I will try and post my own scans soon. Cheers Radek
Well, the Germans certainly have some worthy "local" brands...
11/30/2008 - 22:56
and perhaps they are more attuned to them.  This does remind me of the time I was in Frankfurt Airport and an airport security guard complemented me on my Lange watch.  He did not comment on the Patek that a friend was wearing... Looking forward to your pics and congrats again Radek.. Cheers, Duncan
Fair enough, Duncan... German brands are big in the local market! nt

What a great find!

I am a huge fan of rose gold.  While the Royal Eagle has never really caught my attention in SS, in rose gold with a dark dial it is simply stunning.  Also to get number 50 of 50 is very cool.  I guess this purchase is proof that some designs are just meant to remain in our collections, maybe just in a different metal the 2nd time around .  Hope you will enjoy this version even more than the SS one you previously owned. Best regards, Dino
Thanks Dino, in this case second time around tastes much sweeter ;-)nt
