What timepieces have been your inspiration recently?

Lately there have been two watches that have been keeping me up at nightWhat timepieces have been your inspiration recently?. They are very hot and sexy IMO!

Breguet Heritage Tourbillon PT - never to be mine (things you can't have turn you on badly, don't they?!). I find the design extremely appealing especially with the VI inlaid into the tourbillon bridgeWhat timepieces have been your inspiration recently?

Quai de l'Ile Day-Date and Power Reserve personalized Titanium with Palladium flanks, crown and buckle - soon to be mineWhat timepieces have been your inspiration recently?. I love the watch for being the most innovative VC creation in decades. Plus it is personalizable and can be absolutely MINE to my preferenceWhat timepieces have been your inspiration recently?

This vintage PW is the haunting my dreams right now

It's a chronometer with a minute repeater and split seconds chronograph with 30 minute register from 1908.  This would be my ultimate high-end and vintage watch all rolled into one.  I don't mind at all that it is a pocket watch and not a wrist watch - puts it in a price range that I can realistically consider! I'd definitely listen to it often.  In regards to a post topic from yesterday, how's that for relaxation? Barriers are the wife and economy (I'm making headway on the wife front.  On the economy front, well... I'm glad that pocket watch collectors are an even smaller group than wrist watch collectors and hope that nobody else picks up this beauty any time soon.) BR, Dan

Hi Dan, I saw this too and in fact called them about it. They were pretty inflexible on the price so I said "tHank you very much" But it is very nice! Regards, Joseph

Hey Radek, your specs are almost the same as for my dream QDI .  I think your dreams will be realized much before mine though!

Unfortunately not a Vacheron but has a long history with V&C. The jlc Duometre chronometer grade chronograph...love the functions but the movement is to die for.  Have had it on order for a year now, hopefully will be in soon.... John
You are lucky to still crave a watch (two in this case!)

My interest for watches in general have subsided...though good financially, I feel something is missing Maybe it will be revived soon? Hope so! I used to lose a great amount of time dreaming about a certain watch, but those days are long over...gotta get my passion back!!! Congrats Radek on the new VC!

a HL dinner is definately needed to get your heart

pumping hard again for watches Gonna organise one near you this year....hopefully
Haha! Alex, don't worry about it.

I know I WILL get back my passion as myabe now I am thinking of other things in life so the watch takes a back seat. It's also because the bubble created in the recent years where you see prices blown up, too much hype surrounding certain watches/brands ("investment", etc.), too many flippers/speculators who are 90% more into making money rather than showing love for a watch...they really turn me off.  You also see many new & exisiting companies making watches "out of this world" forgetting the purpose of a watch...you get the idea. Am I the only one? Any other Loungers see it this way?
Rei I understand you 100% there have been too many freeloaders both in

terms of flippers qnd new brands just in the business for the fast buck and have spoilt the fun for many including me. Thqt's one reason I'm such a fan of VC (no flippers) and the small independent artisan brands
I also see VC as a pure brand.
03/02/2009 - 07:58
No intention to become an investment vechicle... However the prices are also not cheap  while independent artists also sell theirs at prices only few can afford so lately I am really into Grand Seiko where the execution of high quality is there and no flippers guaranteed (I mean, who would want to invest/flip in a Seiko?). Also, it takes me closer to my favorite country, Japan! I am still watching VC though...still got mine and will continue to cherish them.
Since I'm wearing waistcoat, at least winter time,
02/28/2009 - 18:25

I have very carefully used this old hunting case, from 1919. I don't think it's ever been worn before! It's magic feeling to open the lid and check the time, a whole little ceremony of my own   To open the lid, just press this piece of art, it's a wonderful feeling, I can assure you To get some more inspiration, you just open the back of the watch, and there is everything your eyes want to see No small 'micro' movements, seen through a glasses, just a real movement where all is of real size! This watch has been my inspiration, really for the first time, by using it!

A point to be observed is, that this together with another Vacheron&Constantin pocket watch,  were the first V&C's I bought Since it's in such amazing condition, I have let it stay in it's box in the vault, year after year, until I finally realized, that even this watch, was made to use.  Radek, you perhaps noticed I had waistcoat on me, when we met in Genève, but I forgot the watch! Never wrong with waistcoats, I love it. Hej and thanks for a nice thought out post Doc

my wish list: design and horology
02/28/2009 - 19:35
my taste in watches are really REALLY going towards the more design oriented, some may say the outright bizarre. I want to be surprised, I want watches that grab my curiosity and which have an emotional effect on me. Considering this criteria 2 watches are currently on top of my wish list:The Quai de l'Ile Day/Date either in palladium with titanium flanks or rose gold with titanium flanksMB&F: Horological Machine 3
Whatever happened to this beauty? Any news?
