I was hoping we'd have one of these threads this weekend

An old photo, but it is what I am wearing now and for the weekend.  And it captures the spirit of this holiday weekend in the US.  Have a great weekend all. Robert
I haven't worn this one for a while...

Have a great weekend, everyone. And to my friends south of the border, a great Memorial Day holiday! Joseph

Thats a really classy shot!
Thanks for the nod to "pockets" Alex :-))

Does last night count?  I did a presentation on vintage watch collecting at a Nerd Nite event (now in 53 cities worldwide: nerdnite.com) and wore a jump hour pocket watch.  The venue was a "social club" cum tavern, it was a full house, the beer was flowing, and we had a blast.  My bit was bookended by a presentation on parasites (complete with captive specimens) and bioluminescense vs flourescence in animals. We'd been once before to an equally ecclectic menu; a forensic anthropoligist reviewed her research on burning pig carcasses to simulate human decomposition, an English professor on his book about the origins of ink, and a musician on the evolution of disk jockey's.  If you have a Nerd Nite nearby you really must attend yes.  Or consider presenting...there is a genuine interest by young adults for mechanical timekeeping as something unfamiliar to their upbringing.
Not a VC yet... I'll be picking that up on Monday...

In the interim, I'm wearing this over the weekend. Can't wait till Geneva on Monday!!
Ah you're picking up the watch bought at auction? Can't wait to see it

Great shot, well matched colours! Bon weekend:-) Still don't know how to upload photos onto the Lounge :(
I'm really enjoying the T-Bird on a sharkskin strap today!

It is 31 degrees C today, but I feel comfortable wearing this on a strap.  The red makes it a fun summer watch and matches the red indices on the bezel. Have a Great Weekend everybody, and to those in the US, have a great, long, Memorial Day, weekend! BR, Dan
Wow Dan, that is absolutely stunning!
05/25/2013 - 15:51
Is it a custom VC strap?
Re: Wow Dan, that is absolutely stunning!
05/25/2013 - 18:40
Thanks Joe!  Unfortunately it is an aftermarket strap made in Italy, but I did get a VC buckle for it, wink BTW,  starting in mid-June, I will be back in NJ and working in Philadelphia for several months - so I hope to be able to meet you, and more of our US East Coast Loungers, in person.  :-) Best Regards, Dan
I look forward to that.

Overseas Chrono blue dial!

What a beautiful watch and it looks great on your wrist Alex. Very nice shot. My next watch will be a steel bracelet sporty (yet classy) watch and it's down to the blue dial VC Overseas Chrono vs a Breguet Marine (silver dial with blued Breguet hands). My weekend wear is not my VC this week. It's my Patek 5146R annual calendar. My VC is reserved for next week when Alex is in Singapore! See you soon. cheers robin

My wife and I chose these for the weekend.

Sounds like you had a fun evening, Dean. Great tip about the gatherings of fellow human beings with an ability to focus for a long time on one subject smiley It must actually make one feel kind of "Normal". Would be nice to have that feeling sometimes. Good to see that Toledo on your arm again, Joseph. Thanks to all of you for showing those lovely watches. I wish you all a happy Sunday.
Marvelous set Kent

And really nice to see the period straps yes.
A new (old) acquisition, made by one of VC's principal competitors

Tony, do you have a photo of the movement?
Re: Me like...
05/26/2013 - 19:58
Hi Hamish, I only have a poor seller's photo, but I will take some good ones after it has been serviced. I am very happy to report, however, that it is a VZSSc. The vintage Audemars VZ series movements are my favorite hand-wind movements from that ('40s-'50s) era. Cheers, Tony C.
Simply gorgeous, Tony! How big? (nt)

Thanks Radek...

35mm, but wears even larger due to the narrow bezel. Perfect for my relatively thin wrist! Cheers, Tony C.
Mine is a Gruen Airflight

Its a 24 hour watch, with the numbers shifting after noon from 1-12 to 13-24.    I"m not too good of a photographer.
That is VERY COOL!
05/27/2013 - 05:52
I've never seen one that does this, thanks for sharing and showing me something new! Best Regards, Dan
