I think, with that, you can communicate with the Starship Enterprise! surprise Fascinating! How about some details? Joseph
Lucky you Alex...Love this piece. Please provide us

It has a linear jump hour and the minutes are read via

Mine is definitely not quirky. :-) Not a VC today. I recently acquired this beauty...the "Holy Grail" of IWC watches, the Ref. 5441, Jubilee 125 Special Edition. A simple and simply beautiful watch with a fantastic movement.

Congratulations Joseph !

Congratulations, Joseph!

That is a beauty.  I used to own one of those, mine was in stainless steel, and it is indeed a great watch, and a very interesting one.  Enjoy!                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                  Best regards, Robert

I have always liked that guillochéd dial. And with that case, one of my favourite vintage designs, it really is fantastic! Congratulations to you! Joseph
Thanks Joseph! Coming from a collector like you it is much appreciated

I am completely in love with my chronometre Royal . Case, dial and caliber are all what I appreciate the most, and the combination on the wrist is stunning. Vacheron has some amazing combo of case, dial and caliber, some vintage with guilloche dial (Alex can't say the contrary ^^), more recently Saltarello, Mercator wink and others. All fantastic pieces. cheers Francois

Older photo, but a nice profile.
Your photo is a work of art in its own right!

Me Like Quirky!

It looks like an Art Deco Horological Machine.  smiley It's wet and rainy here today...so out comes an OS of course.

Might be do-able... Let me check the calendar that must be obeyed and get back to you.... G
cool... (nt).

I was afraid for a moment when I read "I am wearing" thought you
07/13/2013 - 11:17
would have ended the sentence by "nothing but a dab of Chanel number 5" :-)

... "Perfume is a subject dear to my heart. I have so many favourites: Arome de Grenouille, Okefenokee, Eau Contraire, Fume de Ma Tante, Blast du Past, Kermes, Je Suis Swell, and Attention S'il Vous Plait, to name but a few" Miss Piggy

last night before the crows get them, took my watch off and shot a picture. I will wear the watch today, still battling email. Had to check in with THL, always a joy.
My trusted QdI

...hiding behind the leather jacket I was trying on (taking pictures to get the wife to approve the purchase - I can make suggestions, but she always has a veto right on anything that has to do with fashion) Dude, I like your RJ. And thank you for your 'welcome back' post 3 weeks ago (sorry for the late response... taking a quote out of your favorite trilogy: "just when I though I was out, they pull me back in!") CHeers,  Francois
Years have passed...

since the first presentation of the QDI, but everytime I see a photo it "works". Beautiful watch !
dear Francois...
07/15/2013 - 12:13
...every time I see it in the morning, it also still works for mewink I am still speechless from hearing that VC is starting to phase out the clear dials... I get it from a business standpoint if they are not selling as well as VC would like, but from a  pure artisitic standpoint I am very dissapointed to hear that the solid dials are taking  prominence in the collection...
Completely agreed.
07/15/2013 - 16:35
I don't get it, the engraved glass was part of the whole concept. There was an idea behind the QDI, something modern, impossible to counterfeit with a special engraved glass, a visible movement. You can make a similar good looking watch, but if you ruin the concept it is not worth anymore. It is certainly easier to make a dial than engraving a glass, but is the easy way the good one? I doubt ... just my 2 cents.
I think that The Lounge does not reflect the general VC client! Since
07/15/2013 - 17:05
the introduction of the full dials (which I don't like at all) the QDI has been selling much better!
that's what I thought - thanks Alex for confirming
07/15/2013 - 17:18
as I said, I understand the business rationale for it, but it is the romantic/idealist in me who is sad... Do you know /  can you share with us if the idea of using the clear dial on the OS (the other 'young' line) is being considered?
I don't think we'll see clear dials in regular production models other
07/16/2013 - 13:35
then the QDI

Almost every time I wear it, I noticed something I didn't before. Melvin

I love the dial pattern, fits well with the nautical theme
