W&W 2014: Introducing 3 new Patrimony Models (Manual wind, Automatic, Retrograde Day/Date)

Vacheron Constantin has updated its offerings in the patrimony range with thre new variations in rose gold and gorgeous slate grey dials

Sobriety is a demanding stylistic exercise accomplished to perfection with this model inspired by the original launched in 1957. With its generous diameter, its broad opening and its subtly domed dial enhanced by a “pearl” minute-circle, along with its slender hour-markers and baton-type hands, it is a compendium of all the collection’s signature features.

The Patrimony self-winding is entirely in line with the traditions of time-honoured artisan-style traditions perpetuated by Vacheron Constantin. External refinement is matched by inner elegance. At its heart beats self-winding Calibre 2450 Q6, developed and crafted by Vacheron Constantin, and visible through the caseback fitted with a sapphire crystal.

Equipped with an original and useful double complication, revealed by two retrograde-type displays, the Patrimony retrograde day-date is a perfect example of technical expertise devoted to a pure aesthetic. Or how mechanical complexity gives way to aesthetic moderation. The caseback is equipped with a sapphire crystal providing a chance to admire the self-winding 2460 R31 R movement.

I really like this colour combination. Maybe it's me, but the dial

colour makes the case look a bit 'redder'.

I like the manual wind and the Retrogade the most.

The automatic is nice but somehow I feel the date window should not have been white. What is it on the Black Dial boutique edition?

Otherwise, all three are beautiful. I find the simple manual wind version one of the most beautiful timepieces around. It evokes beauty in a way very few timepieces do.

Beautiful in its minimalistic design.
