February 18, 10 23:22 Dean left a fairly long essay on Birks in a thread on his aluminun pocket watch.
Mike is right about them. They used to a Canadian institution but fell on hard times.
They still carry a few brands like Omega but their heyday of high end products unfortunately is over.
There are a few high end dealers left but seeing Birks take a nose dive was quite sad.
It wasn't the only long-time Canadian instution to suffer. I'm sure all the Canucks here know about Eatons..a really sad story, perhaps another time.
